FATAL HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION — PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred Sunday morning near Norman.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on January 11 along 192nd Avenue SE, south of Alameda Street. Troopers say a black Chevrolet Silverado was being towed southbound using only a chain when it became detached. The Silverado crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on, killing the driver of that vehicle.

Authorities report the Silverado was left at the scene without a license plate. The driver of the towing vehicle, along with any occupants connected to the Silverado, fled the scene in the towing vehicle. Investigators are working to identify the vehicle through its VIN but are urging the public to come forward with any information.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle, witnessed the crash, or saw a vehicle towing a black Chevrolet Silverado in the area prior to the collision is asked to contact the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit at Troop A Headquarters at (405) 425-2323.

Officials say even the smallest detail could be critical in bringing accountability and answers in this deadly incident.
