MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Saturday, January 17, 2026 — Muskogee Police responded to a reported assault at a residence in the 2600 block of Denver in Muskogee, Oklahoma, leading to a prolonged police standoff and SWAT response.

According to information, officers were called to the home after reports that a female had been assaulted. Upon arrival, one female was taken into custody, while another female was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police identified the suspect as Bobby Sanders, who barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to comply with officers’ repeated commands to exit the home.

Due to the severity of the situation, SWAT teams were called to the scene, including the Muskogee Nation Lighthorse Police SWAT team. Authorities established a perimeter around the residence, evacuated nearby homes as a precaution, and positioned tactical units, including snipers. A drone was also deployed as part of the operation.

After multiple attempts to get the suspect to surrender, officers made entry into the residence. Sanders was located hiding in the attic and was taken into custody without further incident.

He was treated by EMS at the scene before being transported and booked into jail. Charges Include:

• Domestic Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon
• Resisting an Executive Officer
• Terroristic Threats
