ROUND TWO OF SNOW MOVES IN TONIGHT ACROSS OKLAHOMA

Much of Oklahoma picked up 2 to 6 inches of snow overnight, with another 6 to 8 inches possible today as round two of this winter storm moves in.

We want to clear something up from earlier this week. The higher, eye-catching numbers that circulated were not our forecast. Those were astronomical “what-if” scenarios—data showing what could happen under perfect conditions. We shared those possibilities to show the full range of outcomes, but our actual forecast numbers have always been lower.

At this point, most of Oklahoma is on track to see around 8 to 10 inches of total snowfall, which is fairly typical for a storm of this magnitude. There will be isolated areas that could see 12 to 15 inches, but those higher totals will be confined to very narrow, intense snow bands and will not be widespread.

Round two of the snow arrives tonight between 6 and 8 p.m. Once it starts, snow is expected to continue through Sunday morning, tapering off around noon.

Our storm chasers have been out checking roads, and conditions are currently snow-packed across much of the state. ODOT crews are actively treating roadways, and while roads remain drivable right now, drivers should slow down, allow extra time, and take precautions.

Stay with Oklahoma News and Weather Network. We’ll continue to monitor conditions closely and keep you updated as this second round of snow moves through.
