Texas County Double Homicide Suspect Sentenced to Life Without Parole

GUYMON, OK — A Texas County woman has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in connection with the 2024 deaths of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley.

The case began on March 30, 2024, when the Texas County Sheriff’s Office asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to look into the suspicious disappearance of 27-year-old Veronica Butler and 39-year-old Jilian Kelley. Their vehicle was later found abandoned near Highway 95 and Road L, south of Elkhart, Kansas, in rural Texas County. OSBI agents determined evidence at the scene indicated foul play.

In April 2024, investigators arrested five suspects — including Tifany Machel Adams — in Texas and Cimarron Counties. All were booked into the Texas County Jail on charges including two counts of First-Degree Murder, two counts of Kidnapping, and Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder.

On February 2, 2026, a Texas County District Judge sentenced Adams to:

  • Two life sentences without parole
  • Two five-year sentences for unlawful removal of a dead body
  • Two seven-year sentences for unlawful desecration of a human corpse

All sentences will run concurrently.

The OSBI thanked local law enforcement partners for their cooperation throughout the investigation, saying the case reflected their commitment to “Protecting Oklahoma one partnership at a time.”

ONWN will continue to follow developments as cases against the remaining suspects proceed through the court system.
