TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa’s Route 66 Capital Cruise Centennial event is officially raising the stakes, announcing plans to attempt a Guinness World Records title later this spring.
Organizers made the announcement at the historic Stokely Event Center, confirming the event will now serve as an official Guinness World Records® attempt tied to Oklahoma’s Route 66 Centennial celebrations. The goal is to bring together at least 3,000 classic vehicles cruising along Tulsa’s stretch of the Mother Road.
The Capital Cruise is scheduled for May 30, and participation is open to owners of vehicles model year 1996 or older. Event leaders say the collaboration with Guinness World Records will elevate Tulsa’s role as the Capital of Route 66 and spotlight Oklahoma’s rich automotive and travel history.
Drivers interested in participating can register online now. Organizers are encouraging car owners and Route 66 enthusiasts across the region to spread the word and help make history.
