A potent cold front will sweep southward across the state Friday, setting the stage for widespread showers and thunderstorms from afternoon into early Saturday morning.
Accordingly, two rounds of storms are possible, with severe weather probable though the overall intensity ceiling appears limited. Large hail and damaging wind gusts are the primary severe hazards, while high precipitable water values raise the risk for locally heavy rainfall and flash/urban flooding. A Flood Watch covers portions of central and southern Oklahoma through Saturday morning.
Temperatures will start very warm today, with highs climbing into the upper 70s to mid-80s under mostly cloudy skies and breezy southerly winds. Overnight lows will drop into the 40s to low 50s as showers persist, with winds shifting northerly. Saturday will bring a noticeable cool-down, with highs only in the 60s to low 70s and mostly sunny skies as drier air moves in behind the front.
Regionally, the Panhandle and far northwest will see more limited precipitation today before clearing, while central and eastern Oklahoma face the highest chances for heavy rain and strong storms. Northeast and southeast areas could see training storms increasing flooding concerns where recent rains have already fallen.

Safety is key: Have a severe weather plan, avoid flooded roads, and stay informed via official sources. Drier and more stable weather returns Sunday with pleasant temperatures in the 60s to 70s.
